 In the summer of 2014, Founder and CEO Ben Maxwell moved to Bay Harbor Islands, Florida with his wife and children.  He instantly fell in love with the beautiful blue water that surrounds the Bay Harbor area.  Each day Ben would traverse the Bay Harbor Island Causeway to and from his office and marvel at the magnificent beauty of the bay.  As summer and fall passed, Ben was amazed to see the bay was just as busy as it had been when he first moved to the area.  In December 2014, Ben had an incredible idea to bring Floating Mats to Bay Harbor Island and transform the way locals enjoyed the bay on a sunny weekend. In 2015, Ben officially founded SOWKT and starting selling floating mats across the United States through various e-commerce channels.  Since its founding in 2015, the brand has grown to offer multiple sizes and color options both in the US and Canada. Ben loves to hear from customers and finds great joy in seeing SOWKT floating mats being enjoyed in pools, lakes, bays, rivers, and oceans all across North America.
